Are you financing your new home?

Applying for the mortgage loan is one of the more troublesome parts of buying a house. But it doesn't have to be. Having connections with a lot of lenders in the Port Saint Lucie area has helped me learn a few things that will make the process of applying for a loan a breeze.

1 – Create a list of questions regarding your loan program

Be sure you bring a list of questions with you if you do not thoroughly grasp the ins and outs of all the different programs. I or one of my lender contacts can help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of each program, because it's hard to understand the distinctions between fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.

2 – Determine when to lock

When you lock in a rate, your lender is sure to hold to the mortgage interest rates for the loan – usually at the time the loan application is presented. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between the day you apply for your loan and the issuing of closing documents. 3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to decrease your rate
